What Is an IP Blacklist Check?
An IP blacklist check tests whether your IP address is listed on one or more DNS-based blacklists (DNSBLs). These are community and industry-maintained lists of IP addresses that have been associated with spam, malware or other abusive behaviour. Email servers, forums and other services query these lists in real time to decide whether to accept or reject traffic from a given address.
If you run a mail server, your outgoing email can be silently blocked or sent straight to spam folders if your IP is listed. This can happen for many reasons: a compromised machine sending spam, a shared hosting IP that was previously abused, or an address range that is flagged for bulk mail. Because most blacklists are only accessible over DNS, our tool queries each one using the same mechanism mail servers use, then tells you clearly which lists have you listed and which report you as clean.

Why is my IP listed on a blacklist?
An IP is usually listed because it was observed sending spam or involved in malicious activity. On shared hosting this can happen when another user on the same IP is abused, or when the entire address range is flagged. Dynamic home IPs sometimes inherit a listing from a previous user of that address. Checking the specific blacklist will usually explain the reason and the required delisting steps.
How do I remove my IP from a blacklist?
Each blacklist has its own removal (delisting) process, usually described on its website. Generally you must confirm you have fixed the underlying problem, then submit a removal request through the blacklist's lookup page. Removal is not instant and some lists take days. Spamhaus, for example, provides a lookup and removal form at its official site.
Is a blacklisted IP the same as a banned IP?
No. A blacklisted IP is on a DNSBL used primarily to filter email and abuse, and being listed mainly affects outgoing email deliverability. A banned IP is one that a specific service has manually blocked, which only affects that service. This tool checks DNS blacklists, not per-service bans.
My IP shows as clean, but emails are still going to spam — why?
A clean blacklist result is a good sign but not a guarantee. Emails can still land in spam due to weak SPF, DKIM or DMARC authentication, a suspicious sender reputation, or content-based filtering. Use our DNS lookup to inspect your domain's SPF and MX records, and consider improving your email authentication records.
Does this blacklist check store my IP address?
No. The tool detects your public IP and queries each DNSBL live from your browser. Your IP is not collected, stored or logged by us, and the results are shown to you only.
